Call for Papers — Open Sessions
Social Science Libraries Section
- 26 January 2018, 10:05
Theme: "Defining the Digital Social Sciences"
The Social Science Libraries Section (SSLS) invites interested individuals to submit proposals for an open session at the IFLA/WLIC in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 22-25 August 2018. SSLS seeks submissions related to the theme of “Defining the Digital Social Sciences”.
The problems of the world we live in have long been recognized as too large to be solved by one answer, one discipline or one part of the world. The advent of the digital humanities provides us with an opportunity to greatly enrich our understanding of these problems in the social sciences. Where do the digital humanities and digital social sciences cross over? Can the approaches in the humanities be applied to the enrichment of the social sciences? We are seeking papers that address these questions, especially those that articulate where this is happening and how it is being done. Papers related to applied library research in this area are welcome.
Additional topics include, but are not limited to:
- Text Mining
- Institutional Repositories
- Digital Ethnography
- Digital Trace Analyses
- Big Data
- Text Analysis Tools
